well, basically the title is outstanding. I mean who has thought of taking the "war" back to "cancer" and most importantly winning that particular "war"! it would be rude if I said that the title is kind of sarcastic, or rather filled with sadism, because it does make the reader optimistic, and enthusiastic at the same time, to know how does "cancer" really loose this particular war? In a sum up, if it were for grading or something, i'd give it an A grading for it creates something in the reader for the book. it is an appealing title.

I lost two sisters in rapid succession to cancer so I kind of understand the emotional effect the title could have on those who have felt the devastation of this disease! Perhaps a better title could have been Fighting The War on Cancer. I wasn't particularly offended by it but others could have been.

I know the title is meant to be inspiring and hopeful, but I do agree that it's also misleading.

I think the title is good, it's straight to the point and has a positive feeling to it, even though the topic itself of course isn't.

I like the title. When I first read it I was thinking "winning the war on cancer". Unfortunately, not every battle in cancer is won, but each battle is closer to winning the war.

I think the tittle is great, first thing that comes to mind is overcoming cancer

I completely understand your point, and I have to agree with you. The word ‘winning’, in this case, suggests that the author believes that the overall battle with cancer is coming to a conclusion.
Yet, I initially thought the wording of the title possibly suggests a personal experience of battling cancer. And a joyful conclusion to personal illness.
You asked wether we think it could give faulse hope to seriously ill cancer patients. My thought is, in desperation all of us would cling to faulse hope, no matter how it seems to outsiders. The title could give, possibly, terminally ill people faulse ideas, yet a subtitle or blurb could change them.

To me, the title is very broad and could mean a myriad of things. So, in my case, I wouldn't pick up the book if I saw it in a bookstore, because so much has been written on cancer. There has to be some sort of catch to a title, right?

As a person who has recently lost someone to cancer, the title undoubtedly made me feel otherwise. Basically, it only brought about feelings of skepticism. I admit that this has made me want to stray away from the book, since the positivity the author wished to convey only rubbed me the wrong way. However, this is only my opinion. It may be different for others because the title gives off some sort of hope, and I respect that.

I think the title states the goal of those behind the research. I didn't see it as a claim that we have already won.

To start with I think the author used to word winning to get a potential reader's attention.The title of the book gives me a feeling of an ongoing struggle towards winning the fight against the disease.I get a feeling that we are a few steps from getting the cure.

Winning the War, not to imply the war is over or finished. I took it as more of a turning tide. Medicine is having more success every day.

I guess the topic can be taken negetively or positively depending on the readers perspective,aaccording to me the title is appropriate and gives hope to people fighting cancer
