This is a great historical fiction that keeps the reader hooked as it is packed with action and humor, which are some of my favourite genres. The book indeed deserves a 4 star rating.

I don’t usually like books about the war, but this was a well-written book. I like the main characters in the book the best. They were well developed and realistically written. My least favorite thing is probably the fact that the book did have some drawn out scenes. Still, though, it was a good read.

When I first read the name "The Warramunga's War", I thought "ancient" and then I thought "not for me". Although it sounds interesting I don't think I would enjoy the book, as Historical fiction is not a genre of my reading choice.

Well, I love historical fiction, but something about this book just doesn’t grab my attention. Perhaps the cover....

I found this book really difficult to read. I've returned to it a few times as it was actually the first book that caught my eye when I discovered the site. Personally, I didn't fall in love with the characters quick enough and didn't click with the writing style.
You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.

I enjoy historical fiction books and how they force me to consider the what ifs in history. This book was a perfect representation of what i love in a historical fiction novel; a unique voice that makes me forget about the author, a captivating plot that makes me forget the present, well developed characters with depth so they are not only relatable but can also be routed for, and a plot riddled with action and suspense. There was never a dull moment in this book and I rated it 4 out of 4 stars because of all I've said above.

I enjoyed the comedic approach the author took even though the book revolves around war. Krater has a way of pulling at your heart while at the same time consoling you with laughter. My only issue with the book is that it drags a little towards the end. Nonetheless, it's deserving of a 4/4 rating.

I think amongst the parts I enjoyed in this book was the visit to the pyramids. What transpired there and the events that followed including the relationship was something I never saw coming.
I most certainly agree. I loved Cater's descriptions the most during that scene. He really brought the spirit of Egypt to life. :tiphat:

Historical fiction seasoned with humor and wit; can it get any better? I will add this book to my TBR list. Thanks for the eye-opening comment!
Awww, I'm glad you feel that way, Ruba! :D And you are right. It doesn't get any better! I hope you get around to reading it.

I've read some of it and I am interested in reading the rest. Historical fiction isn't my forte but the inclusion of humor and the countless positive reviews balances that out. It also helps that the author responded to my comment a few months back when it was BotD. I love interacting with authors!
He responded to your comment?! That's super cool. I also love it when authors interact with their readers. I hope you enjoy the rest of the book when you get to reading it.

Historical war fiction isn't my usual thing, but I enjoyed the way this mixed plot, character-development, and humor. Just really enjoyed the Jamie and Jacko dynamic. I probably wouldn't recommend it to most of my female reader friends who also don't lean that way, but I'd feel confident giving it to my dad or father-in-law as a gift! :)

I'm interested in learning about the different cultures of the world. Thus, I like the part where Greg Kater highlights the life of the Aborigines in Australia.

I have not read the entire story (just the first ten pages), so I need to read the entire story before giving my final rating for this book. I am not into war stories, but stories do take off in the middle until the end. I might admire this book after reading the entire story. My final rating will follow.

I read the book a while ago and reviewed it. My rating was a 3 out of 4-star rating, although I gave the second book in the series a 4-star rating. I enjoyed it very much and the detail and historical accuracy are impressive, as are the descriptions of what was actually going on in the war while Jamie and Jacko were busy with counter-espionage actions. I felt that the action was a bit mild as there were no explicit descriptions of death or injury. The romance was also definitely very mild and innocent compared to what you read these days. This originally made me rate the book lower than a full four-star rating. When I read the second book I discovered that I had in fact fallen in love with the characters and quite enjoyed them and the humour with the innocent romance.

I haven't read this book yet, but it is available for me to choose it. I like reading the comments in here as I'm not sure what book I want to pick next and this one sounds like a good one to choose. I liked hearing this book even has a romantic touch to it. I hope I will enjoy it as the rest of you have.
