Jacko's roots

I was just wondering whether the mission in Egypt would have been successful if it weren't for Jacko's aboriginal roots. I think non of the others could blend in as easily. Also, his unique abilities played a big role. Do you think they could have helped in winning the desert war as much as they did had Jacko not been a part of the team?

I like Jamie as the main character but I do believe the book centers more on Jacko's character. And yes, I really like to think that Jacko was the key to their victories. If it weren't for him, I think they would have not been as successful as they were.

His roots played an important part of the book even his romantic life; he's the star. For Jamie- might be in the next sequel.

Jacko was definitely a huge asset in their mission especially the fact that he can blend in easily. But in the instance that Jacko didn't bacome part of their team, I think they still would have found a successful way to spy on the enemies to help win the war. Jaime also had good abilities, and they would've probably relied more on the girls they hired.

Jacko really played a huge role as it was easy for the locals to relate with him. He didn't stand out and this helped form relations that helped in attaining their success.

Ah, very true, the girls probably would have been more involved, as they would blend in much easier.

My thoughts, exactly. The locals opened up more because Jacko could blend in with them.

Jacko's roots definitely helped with getting the mission done. This is further emphasized when Sarah comes into the picture. It's clear to see that it's the skills that they learned from a young age that makes survival almost intrinsic to them.

I get what you mean. But think about it... If Jacko hadn't saved Jamie in the beginning, Jamie would have probably died. The team would have lacked both of them in the end. Johnny would have never been able to make it without their help.

I'm with you on this one. I guess it's human nature to be drawn to and trust most those who look like our own.

That’s true. But I was thinking ahead when they were already in Egypt, like in the probability that Jamie didn’t choose Jacko to go with him. But you’re right as well.

Ohh, when you put it like that, I see what you mean. Jamie would have definitely been able to hold his own without Jacko.

His roots were a big part of the story, even the book's title should be informative in who to follow most.

Yah, I noticed it, too. I'm even confused who is the main character because Jamie was introduced first, but Jacko's background seems to be the main character as warramunga.

Their race and culture seems their bet as fighters.
