The author purpose was to deliver the some things that is bouncing on the body. From what I believe it's was his fate to do so and there is nothing than can control the words of God. When he makes the decision about your fate nothing would be impossible even though how hard difficult it will be but as long as its the fate that decided by the God nothing can go contrary the fate.
That's why the author was able to deliver the message
Everyone has a different way of looking at one's purpose in life. Some call it a journey, some call it fate, others call it a quest or destiny and so on. Whatever we call it, we all have to complete it.

There are a lot of unGodly teachings going around these days. We need divine intervention to discern what teaching to believe.

I strongly believe in "many are called but few are chosen". I think the author is one of the chosen few.

I believe that our subconscious tries to save us whenever we do self-sabotage or are spiralling down. The visions and dreams can be our subconscious trying to warn us or show us the way out.

I think the Lord works in mysterious ways, but I can't see Jesus approaching him telling him to "find his bones" or other such apparitions. I think strong dreams are just methods of the subconscious crying out and quite frankly I take very little stock in anything "revealed" to someone while on a hallucinatory drug.

We were all created in the image and likeness of God hence we are all special in our own ways. The question is whether we listen to the voice of God or not.

I don't think that the author is a special person from the rest of us. We're all special and the fact that he could see visions, maybe makes him a little special that he could notice and identify Jesus' voice guiding him.

I think He wants this of all of us. The special part comes by way of him having the call and answering it. Yet I am still puzzled by the fact that the same Jesus who is the Son of God seems to be leading the author to something more than God; Isness.

The way his dreams and visions unfold pointed to a greater future than what he would have imagined at moment. All things were working together to bring him to a point of helping others indeed.

That's an interesting thought. Dreams do play a crucial part and can be an effective tool in discerning our subconscious.

True! Either you are a believer or not, there is always that inner voice warning you when danger is near or gives you some sort of contentment when you help someone else. The advanced stage is dreams and visions. Thank you for your comment.

Quite frankly, you do have a point with the "hallucinatory drug" part. However, I will disagree with you on the other part. When he had dreams about Jesus in Chapter 2, "find my bones ..." is a parable and it is not meant to be interpreted in its literal form. Dreams and visions are part of our subconscious and sometimes we see them in order to get some directions in life. Have you ever experienced sleeping and not dreaming? It is dark and blank. Dreams, visions, and revelations are there to help us find our way or to fulfil a destiny.

Nonetheless, thank you for sharing your thoughts.
