Review of The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci - 5 out of 5

Summary: Angela works hard in the art world at the Getty for a boss that's a creep. An unlikely hero enters her life and takes her on an adventure that seems eerily familiar to her. It's hard not to give away the major plot points in this creative novel, but there are three different time periods. 2018, World War 2 in Florence, and 1400's Florence. The historical aspects of the Medici family were great and drew me to the book. The book is mostly about the extremely fast but also slow developing relationship the hero, Alex. The book seems part romance novel (that was a bit slow for me) - and part historical thriller (that I enjoyed quite a bit).

The book is well edited, the writing stile is quite good. The description of the meals made me hungry, which is nice, because I really felt the story connected - I could picture and even smell the Italian food.

I felt the relationship between Angela and Alex developed awfully quick, but also moved slow in other respects. The author seemed to want to build tension with a when will they, but it seemed so obvious that they would, that it kind of dragged on to me.

The main character, Angela, could have been a bit stronger throughout. I didn't feel like I got a great sense of her. If she is a timeless beauty, surely she would know it a bit more and not be surprised when people compliment her looks. I guess I'm being nitpicky, but I would have liked to see Angela a bit stronger and more sure of herself.

All in all, this is the type of book you hope to come across whether its a big publisher or self-published book. I started and finished in one day. Part of what had me captivated was just finishing the second season of Medici on Netflix, some of the history is told different between the show and this book, I'll be looking up to see who took more liberties. It's super fun when I finish a book to want to learn more. Thank you to the author for that. One minor mistake - Glock's do not have safety switches that are flicked on and off. The trigger safety is on the trigger and pulled concurrently with the trigger.

I have recommended this book to my wife (who will probably enjoy what I thought was a pacing problem through the middle) and I think it would be the perfect book to read on your plane ride to Florence. Buon libro!
