ARA Review by JillianRoseAuthor of The Unbound Soul

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The Unbound Soul starts as an autobiographical depiction of the author’s spiritual journey, depicting his mystical experiences as a child, and his lifelong search for the truth of this life as a soul within a body. The author speaks of his fascinating experiences with the martial arts, meditation practices, hallucinogenic drugs, and impactful visions and awakening experiences he has had throughout his life’s journey - and how these have led him to the teachings that he shares throughout the course of the novel.

This book is more than a memoir. It provides practical tools to help seekers to live a life of greater fulfillment, unleash their potential, and remove themselves from the incessant loop that unconscious thought and emotion creates. It is not a quick read, and I do not say that in a negative way. I feel that the immersive nature of the writing is an integral part of its impactul nature. The words are not to be taken lightly. Each sentence is to be read and understood before moving to the next. This is not to say that this is a difficult read, in any way, as far as the writing goes, but rather, it is deeply and powerfully expressed, and should be read with a certain reverence. It is also very well-written, and depicted in a clear and easy-to-understand manner.

There were many pearls of wisdom weaved throughout this book. I highlighted many lines to come back to later. The concepts were vast, and I found that at times, they would not settle into my space until later, hours or days later, and I would then understand them more deeply. The author touches on all aspects of our human experience, including mental body reponses, emotional reactions, and physicality, such as how we treat and take care of our bodies. He delves into much detail, and provides practical tools to help the reader to increase their awareness through their senses in daily life. The author also provides tools to aid in the clearing of heavy energetic material that no longer serves us in our path tworded living more closely to our true nature, or Soul.

I have studied many spiritual teachings in my life. I have spent many years focused on meditation and personal and spiritual growth. My reactions to these particular teachings were interesting for many reasons. First, let me say that I have been steering away from transcendent beliefs and routes toward enlightenment that include bypassing all aspects of self, which include our emotions and our thoughts. Afterall, we are here on this earth, grounded in this life and gifted these bodies, and I believe all of these things should be revered and are all necessary for healing. The author, however, though often condemns thought and emotion as dangerous aspects of our beingness and interactions, also expresses his belief in this necessity to become embodied, albeit in a slightly different manner. And this often gave me pause. This book made me think. A lot. And it had me swimming with ideas.

Even if there was a particular part that I didn’t necessarily agree with, I grew through it, because there are seeds of truth everywhere. I commend the author’s ability to share such incredibly thought-provoking material in such a clean manner. Second, I think there are different levels of truth, and I think this book expresses one of these levels. I enjoyed bridging truths as I read along, and I have a feeling I will continue to do so. I seek understanding, but hey, as the author says, opening up to truth is beyond knowledge.

I am very glad I stumbled across this book. Reading it was truly an experience, and I have a feeling I will continue to experience its effects long after the last page. I give this book a 5 out of 5 for all of these reasons, but this one especially. Any book that has an impact on the reader has done its job. Any book that has a lasting impact, has gone above and beyond.
