ARA Review by MikeCyberMillion of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

I really liked how this book challenges you to review your thinking. Was Darth Vader a nice guy? Perhaps a lot of people think if they were in charge things would be better. Would it? Is there a better way? Do I myself, have to be careful of over helping? What are my reasons? Are my good intentions actually going to help?

Also what we learn growing up can affect how we relate to people years later. I grew up in a big family and I was the quiet one, so I would get overlooked. I had to learn how to speak up and that was very hard. Reading this book made me remember how I had to adapt. I used to do things myself so I became independent. People then don’t think to offer help because they see you doing it. I never complained. Now I accept if I’m struggling it’s okay to show it and ask for help.

Also when you get a job, you are trained in their processes and sometimes that carries over. You don’t always think about the affect this might have. Is the way you were shown the best option? What happens if you do it your own way? Will someone ask what you are doing?

Changes are inevitable but reviewing how you deal with the change is important. How you relate to people and deal with even those you don’t like. Right now I’m looking into what actual job I want. Do I want to stay dealing with people or move to something else? That’s only come about because I’m thinking about how I feel. Not just doing but feeling.

I am very customer service oriented. Empathy has been my focus, yet I’m constantly meeting people who are not empathetic. Is that my fault? After reading this book I have changed on how to deal with different situations rather than just one way.
I rate this 5 out of 5 stars! The reason I give 5 is the memories that surfaced and the idea Darth Vader might be a nice guy!
