ARA Review by Salwa Abbasi of Final Notice

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

In "Final Notice," Van Fleisher weaves a gripping tale of aging, death, and the moral complexities of modern medicine. The novel centers around a group of senior citizens who receive a unique offer from a company called "Senior Services": the chance to receive a "Final Notice" that will allow them to end their lives peacefully and painlessly, on their own terms.

What follows is a thought-provoking exploration of aging and mortality, as well as the ethical questions surrounding end-of-life care. Fleisher does an excellent job of presenting both sides of the argument, and the novel's characters are fully realized and engaging. There's plenty of suspense and mystery to keep the reader engaged, but what makes "Final Notice" truly compelling is the way it forces readers to confront their own beliefs and assumptions about aging and death.

Fleisher's prose is clear and engaging, and his descriptions of the characters and their surroundings are vivid and memorable. The novel is well-paced, and the tension builds steadily throughout, leading to a satisfying and emotionally resonant conclusion.

In short, "Final Notice" is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that explores some of the most pressing issues of our time. It's an excellent read for anyone who enjoys suspenseful and intellectually stimulating fiction, and it's sure to leave a lasting impression on readers long after they've finished the final page.
