ARA Review by Rime Tazout of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

I absolutely loved reading "In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All" by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes. This book is a thought-provoking and ambitious exploration of New Age philosophy that left a lasting impact on me. From start to finish, I found myself captivated by Hughes' unique perspective and profound insights.

One of the things that struck me the most about this book is its relevance to today's society. Hughes addresses important topics such as love, equality, freedom, and peace, all of which are incredibly relevant in our current world. He challenges the haters, sexists, racists, violent oppressors, murderers, rapists, and enslavers, shedding light on the societal issues we all face. Hughes does an exceptional job of highlighting the history of oppression against women and blacks, reminding us that these struggles are not confined to the past. Although the author claims that this is not a political book, it is clear that Hughes holds progressive beliefs and advocates for a society that strives for perfection.

The author's solution to these societal problems is the concept of "spiritual freedom". Hughes believes that by practicing self-discipline, we can overcome the lack of self-love that hinders us from helping others. Life is portrayed as a spiritual battle, where we must balance our spirit and flesh. Through consciousness and the acceptance of what is beyond our control, we can find peace and become a force of love.

The repetition in the book can be a bit excessive at times, but it never detracts from the overall message. Hughes emphasizes the fundamental unity of conscious beings and highlights our common struggle against the dull instincts of our human bodies. He encourages us to let go of the desire to win wars and accept what is. While this may seem extreme to some, it resonated deeply with me, as it challenges us to examine our preconceived notions and embrace a more compassionate and accepting mindset.

Furthermore, the author's insights on personal growth and self-discovery are truly eye-opening. He encourages readers to strip away their material lives and focus on their true conscious selves. The analogy between starving children and the obesity epidemic is particularly impactful, highlighting the power of self-love and its potential to create positive change in the world.

Overall, "In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All" is a fantastic philosophical journey that delves into the trials and tribulations we all face. The author's ability to present his ideas without imposing "shoulds" on the reader is refreshing and allows for a more personal and introspective experience. This book genuinely impacted me, prompting me to reflect on my life and prioritize what truly matters. I will continually keep recommending this book as it has the power to change your perspective and provide the motivation for you inner growtg. With that said, I give it a rating of 4.5/5.
