ARA Review by BillymissT of Herai

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Herai is a story about strong and outstanding people. They all have distinct loyalties and beliefs, no matter which world they belong to. That shows that people do not change no matter what circumstances they live in. That's the lesson I learned from this book. However, living conditions also affect their personalities. The character's change proves the familiar saying "perhaps in the next life".

Two parallel worlds, with parallel events and parallel people, both suffer from the chaos that occurs. What a war! At first, I felt confused and didn't know my purpose when reading this book, so I had to spend some time immersing myself in the story. But once I did, I couldn't stop. Every event, no matter how small, has significance in both worlds.

There are two options to solve the problem and there is a better one. Herai explores both of these options. The ending surprised me, like a Matrix-style episode.
Conclusion

Overall, Herai is an engaging thriller that explores the philosophy of life in general. Combining those two topics together is rare, but avoiding some pitfalls, the book wraps it up in a small package. Read on if you want to try something new.

I didn't like this book very much when I first started. It was pretty dull, but later on (around chapters two/three) it caught my interest and it was very good. What I like most about the book is how well the author transitions between the two realities.

I admire it because it's not easy to do that without confusing the reader. What I don't like the most is probably that I feel the place without "him" lacks appropriate developments. However, I must admit that it does contain small details that partly make up for that.

The characters are well portrayed, easy to relate to, and easy to understand. The character's personality is also different in two different places, and I think that makes it more convincing, because our circumstances make us who we are.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading science fiction and/or fantasy. You won't regret it. I must add that the book touches on the issue of homosexuality so I would not recommend it to those who do not support the LGBT society. The book contains mild profanity as well as some very mild sexual content.
I rate Herai by Aaron D Key 4/5
stars. I would have given it a full 5 stars if the book wasn't so confusing and of course, also lacking in development in the "without him" part.
The book has been edited quite well as I only found a few minor grammatical errors. That aside, I feel this is a book worth reading and you won't be disappointed when reading it.
