ARA Review by Jemiimah of Shadow's Voice

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The story follows the protagonist, Rose Ula, a young woman trying to escape her past. The narrative starts with immediate action, drawing readers into the complexities of Rose's journey. Rose is depicted as a likeable character with a mysterious and troubled past. The author, Natalie Johanson, develops Rose's relationships with the supporting cast, maintaining a good pace while keeping Rose's history shadowed and uncertain.

Rose is given a mission by a messenger with a message for the king, propelling her into a dangerous journey. This sets the stage for adventure and action, contributing to the engaging nature of the story. The magical elements in the story, particularly Rose's abilities and her desire to be rid of them, are commended for being excellently described and well fleshed-out. The enigmatic nature of Rose's magic adds depth to the narrative.

The author draws a comparison to Cinderella but with a darker and mysterious twist. This suggests that the story incorporates fairy tale elements while providing a unique and intriguing narrative.

The text highlights the presence of action, intrigue, humor, and adventure in the book, creating an enjoyable reading experience. The combination of these elements contributes to the overall appeal of the story.

I personally enjoyed reading about Rose's adventures as it expresses hope for more in the future. This indicates a positive reception of the story and a desire for further exploration of the character's journey.

"Shadow’s Voice" is a captivating fantasy with a strong protagonist, well-developed relationships, intriguing magic, and a balance of action, humor, and adventure. The dark and mysterious elements contribute to the uniqueness of the narrative, leaving the reviewer eager for more of Rose's adventures.
I therefore rate this book 5 out of 5
