ARA Review by Lisajayauthor of Final Notice

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Final Notice by Van Fleisher is a psychological thriller that weaves together todays issues with what would a person a do if they knew they had only a week to live beautifully.

The story starts off with an older man struggling to accept his age. At first it is strange to start the book this way, but the author does a great job of interweaving this mans story with the theme of the book. This first story is also starting the first foray into the issue of gun ownership. Gun ownership is a theme throughout the book and whether those that are older are manipulated into owning a gun or not. In addition, politics comes into play and though it seems out of place at first, there is a discussion of cultural issues that are going on today. This part of the book is mingled with the idea of buying a guy again, so the author does try to make his own statement while bringing the two ideas together.

Besides the story of the older man there is a story of a tech company that has come up with a smart watch that can tell you when you have one week to live. This is where the story begins to intersect with the older gentleman who is unsure if he should buy a guy or not. There are incidents during the trials of the watch where people are killed or die once they receive that one week to live notice.

The author spins a thrilling tale of whether the watch actually manipulates people into killing others and themselves. In addition, it makes you wonder if gun control laws are too loose in some states. This book makes you think not only about your own mortality but about issues that are going on in the world today.

It keeps you coming back for more through descriptive story telling that makes you wonder what you would do if you really only had one week to live? Would you want to know if you only had one week to live? This book is for anyone who enjoys a good story, an edge of your seat thriller that also makes you think.

Rating: 5/5 for the amazing story telling, being able to weave so many smaller stories together cohesively and for planting the seeds of what if in your brain.
