ARA Review by Lisajayauthor of Roan

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Typical books start at the beginning however, there are those few that have such a gripping, strange tale to tell they have to start off with prologue you later find out is more a part of the middle of the story.

The book Roan: the tales of Conor Archer, Vol. 1 by E.R. Barr weaves a strange story of legends that lay with the old Iris. Conor Archer was first a young boy trying to help his mom make ends meet until the fateful night she passes away from cancer. During that night he meets an aggressive stranger who through one bite makes him terribly sick. Sick and trying to figure out what just happened he meets another mysterious stranger that seems to grow old right in front of his eyes. This stranger alludes to many things to come, mostly sad but also tells Conor how to make himself heal. He doesn’t fully understand but knows he needs to go back to where his mother was born, sick or not.

Once he is back, even more of the mystery that surrounds his birth town unfolds. What is the mystery creature that Conor met? What is the mystery of Tinkers glen? Once Conor is healed, having gone through the special instructions his second mystery stranger gave him, he begins to learn about his heritage, his families past and why the webbing on his fingers and feet make him so special.

E.R. Barr begins the book with an air of fantasy and mystery that continues throughout the book. He tells the reader just enough to keep their interest in the mystery that surrounds Conor Archer and Tinkers Glen as the book goes on and it definitely does not slow down. This is a must read for anyone a fan of mystery, fantasy and thrillers combined all into one book.

Once you start you wont be able to put it down and you’ll be itching to buy the next installment. This is why I am giving this book a 5/5 stars.
