ARA Review by Michael Wallace 1 of World, Incorporated

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

[Following is an ARA Review of World,Incorporated A Modern Dystopiaby Tom Gariffo]

Mr. Gariffo's book is a futuristic Science Fiction work that
portrays how our world would exist after a nuclear war. This world is controlled by super corporations that have seized power from past governments. These numerous super corporations totally control the earth's societies with massive technological advancements. The super corporations have massive data banks that know each of its citizen and their emotional stability, their shopping habits and monitors everything that they do. The leaders of each corporation has immense power over there respective organizations. There are occasional battles between each of the corporations that result's in loss of lives.

The story centers around an agent named Sliver, that performs assasinations for the World superpower. His early life is presented to show his progression into the monster that he has become to carry out his assignments. He is a highly skilled warrier with super strength and armed with a special array of weapons and technology to complete his missions. He had previously gone through a horrific series of events to change him into the vengeful disturbed person that led him to kill people with no remorse.

The story centers around his missions for the super corporation called World. He travels around in a super stealth flying vehicle which is controlled by a onboard computer program. The computer program is called Franklin and it performs many duties besides just navigating the vehicle. During his missions Sliver picks up several passengers that are threatening at first but slowly become
allies in his missions. He becomes increasingly disgusted with his life and finally decides to end his career and live a more civilized existence.

This book is an interesting read because it portrays a possible future for our world in the near future. There are two chapters in the book that describe political actions taken by the previous governments that are tedious and boring to get through because they take you out of the story line. The book had 20 chapters in length and is slow reading in the first half but really becomes interesting in the second half. I believe this story could act as a warning against world wars in our own time.

The use of advanced technology is quite interesting in how the super corporations totally control their societies. The citizens live in a world where they have no control over their lives, yet they are allowed many amenities within each of the cities that they reside. A world with no crime but just the fear of battles between each corporation envelopes their demeanor.

The book contains profanity from start to finish. There are many violent encounters throughout the story but there are no sexual encounters in this work. I felt sympathy for the agent as he carried out his missions. I was glad he finally decided to escape his evil life and look forward to a peaceful future. The story is well edited with little if any miscues. The story is inspiring in that someone who is filled with hate can finally overcome their past misfortunes and develop a character that shows compassion toward their fellow man. I rate this book 3 out of 5 because of the profanity and violence. The book could be a 4 if the first half would have read better and not so much profanity and violence was included.
