ARA Review by dbhmsc of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The book is an engaging journey into spirituality and self fulfillment. It is written in a somewhat unusual first person as it addresses you, the reader, or me the reader, as it was the case when I was reading it.

Without giving spoilers I would recommend setting aside your moral, ethical and religious preferences and particulars when reading this book, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Perhaps my favorite part was the part about how there is no evil in the world, only the perception of it. I do not personally agree with this notion, but I enjoyed butting my spiritual head against this specific viewpoint. Which is the point i am making (no pun intended) - I have no doubt you will have a good time debating some of the chapters while reading there, I most certainly enjoyed quite a few of those while reading.

I would also like to point out the similarity between the viewpoints presented in this book and the works of and about Gurdjieff,
AKA the prophet of the so called "fourth way", specifically the concepts of "true person" and "false concepts", somewhat mirroring the concepts of "True Consciousness" and "Philosophical Zombies" presented in this book.

If I were to present an improvement that could have been made to the book it would be the perception that, at times, the author tends to overstate a point after it has already been made, I did get this impression a few times.
I really enjoyed the craftsmanship though, the writer is quite a wordsmith!!
Taking all the above into account, I give this book {b}4 out of 5{b} stars.
Enjoy the read - I most certainly did!
