ARA Review by Soulbreeze of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

In It Together by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes

5/5

Hughes writes about the human condition, our suffering, desire, and self-cruelty in a beautiful way, he writes of a unified world where spiritual freedom is a synonym with self-discipline. He paints a real picture of the spiritual war and offers insights on how to win against the enemy within ourselves. He makes the point that everyone should work together, regardless of their political beliefs, upbringing, or financial condition, and has managed to present his argument persuasively and rationally.

What defines the real self, temporal psychopathy, lack of empathy for our future or past selves. Selfishly sacrificing the current self at the expense of the future self. Abusive cycles of pseudo-love that we refuse to see. I must say this cut deep and I found it very relatable, it landed on me like sincere advice from a person who truly cares about my well-being.

"All humans are on the addiction spectrum" the author rightly states. "Addiction to comfort eventually banishes inner peace" - reading this part made me reflect on all the times I had fallen into addiction without even realizing it, particularly because of that well-adjusted addiction that is too subtle for one to admit its existence.

A book that makes one reflect on everything that surrounds us. Togetherness in diversity, creating beauty uniquely but side by side. The examples he makes use of stayed with me after finishing the book, and through each example, I was able to recall all that I had absorbed.

I relished every word of this book, complex concepts of religion and philosophy are broken down in a graceful way. Although I must admit, I sometimes struggled and had to take breaks to process everything, that is due to the fact that non-fiction is not my forte. Nevertheless, I gave this book five stars because after reading it I continued about my day with a new sense of fulfillment and a rinsed heart.
