ARA Review by Mike5wojo of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

"In It Together" (5 out of 5) explores the big existential questions surrounding life. In times as polarizing as these, it is nice to take a moment and reflect. That's what this book asks from its readers. Reflect on what it means to be human and tap into the commonalities we share instead of the divisions that divide us.

There is nothing new or earth shattering here, but the message is worth repeating because it seems, especially lately, that we have forgotten we're all in this together. Humans have an empathic association, and Eckhart Aurelius Hughes highlights how we have more in common than we sometimes realize. Even with atrocities that plague our world (child hunger, pursuit of materialism, dualism, ego) the silver lining, if there is one, lies with us.

Like most self-help books, "In it Together" makes suggestions to fully realize one's greatness. The suggestion that hit closest to home for me was the concept of letting go, of allowing oneself to become vulnerable, break down the metaphorical walls that keep one in their smallness, and release the clinging. (Readers will know what this means.)

Yes, like all things worth doing, this will (it must!) take effort. Letting go is much easier said than done, but it is a necessity to truly become free from the burdens trapping oneself in a world of materialism and isolation.

The book concludes with heartfelt proclamation of love and support. If you're not in the right frame of mind, it may come across as cheesy or self-serving, but regardless of your mental acuity, let the message resonate. Let it manifest and take hold. Afterall, what would it hurt to let in a little love?
