ARA Review by agiiol3 of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

In it Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is an amazing journey through the human mind and all the unique challenges we face together.

The author explores a seamless connection that makes us all the same, the human spirit. Regardless of looks, clothes or possessions, our individual spirits are colorless with more in common than not. This is magnified by his explanation of the “Two Yous”: the one that is seen and the one that is inside. With philosophical quotes from Ram Daas, Albert Einstein, Voltairine De Cleyre, Descartes, and examples from the lives of Jesus and Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., and more, the book is more of an expression of emotional fortitude than a story with a synopsis, so this cannot be put into those kinds of words. It also incorporates the message of love and how the lack of is preventing us from solving most of the world’s problems, such as child hunger, racism, antisemitism and more.

The author often claims that his words aren’t religious, but to those of us who have read the Bible, it does have a certain biblical feel to it, and I’m not mad at him. It does make the thoughts more impactful, an inspiration to whomever reads it.

I found the analogies and metaphors to be very unique, as voluminous and insightful as I’ve seen them. At one part, he describes freeing oneself from struggle by giving up the fight (I’m paraphrasing here). But the overall impression I get is to stop battling and going to literal war to end a struggle, not to give up fighting for a loving answer and solution.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is searching for a more comprehensive point of view when facing life. I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating.
