ARA Review by Ann Birdgenaw of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The human condition and how to survive in the world we find ourselves in, the book: In It Together: the beautiful struggle uniting us all by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes takes a philosophical look at how to find and promote love in our divisive times.

Political strife, spiritually deprived and philosophically torn, we all have something in common to bring us together: our pursuit of inner-peace. Hughes shares his experience and insight into simple things we can do in our immediate lives to use our humanity, empathy and understanding to live a mindful life.

There is a strong message to live in the moment I particularly liked the message I gleaned that our words matter, so choose your words carefully what you put out into the universe and how you project it.

The author debates the many historical voices including; Voltairine De Cleyre, who expounded “…peace and equal freedom for all” despite living over a century ago when women had few rights and equality was considered chaos. And Nietzsche who put it “To live is to suffer.” Highlights our struggle to where we are now in time and in spirit. This is a worthy read if you are stuck in a rut and contemplating what are we here for? What is it all about and what can a single person do to make a difference.

At approximately 200 pages this is a short but satisfying read that gives you much to ponder and reflect on. Namaste
