ARA Review by dcseagle of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Not 3 because a lot of love was put into the writing of this book. Not 4 because it was repetitive and repetitively wordy.

If you are a fan of philosophy, you will love this book.In it Together is a philosophical lesson in the nature of true consciousness mixed with some philosophical physics. It drives the point home with the repetition of metaphors, examples of the point, and theories relating to collective consciousness.

This inward-looking book demonstrates how all humans can find themselves on the same side struggling together for the same unifying spiritual truths and consciousness no matter their political affiliation, religion, gender, size, clothing, social status, or reality of being. It points out that our true essence is one.

You will learn that happiness is spiritual freedom resulting from self-control. The author emphasizes many times how we sabotage ourselves with disguised selfish and destructive comfort; comforts that are often a harm to ourselves. But true conscious love is a true love between souls, and spirits, and in our own true self.

On the other hand, unselfish-seeming behaviors are the actions of what the author calls philosophical zombie selves, who have no consciousness to project empathy, love, or sympathy.

The author continuously reminds us how we find ourselves united spiritually with every human being and every conscious being in our “your true self.” And that true love is a manifestation of true consciousness.

The most enjoyable gem of this book was found in subtle humor from the statement: “Jesus said love your enemies, so naturally the government murdered him.” I also loved the line, “illuminate without blinding.”

The book is basically summed up in the author’s quoted letter from Albert Einstein where he says that “A human being is a part of the whole which we call The Universe, a part limited in time and space…he experiences himself as something separated from the rest…” He says this delusion is a prison and, “… our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion…”
