ARA Review by Allyson Armstrong of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Elkhart Aurelius Hughes’s In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us is an inspiring and thought-provoking exploration of the power of community in today’s world. Through his own experiences, Hughes shows readers how to draw strength from shared experiences—both positive and negative—in order to move forward in their lives.

At the heart of In It Together is Hughes’s belief that community is essential to our collective well-being. He argues that each person has a responsibility to not only take care of themselves, but also to reach out and lend support to those in need—be it family members, friends, or strangers alike. By engaging in such acts of kindness, Hughes argues that we can create a stronger, more unified society.

In his book, Hughes also addresses the problems posed by racism and poverty—two key issues that continue to divide societies around the world. He believes that it is only through compassion and understanding that we will ever be able to bridge these divides. He argues that by recognizing and respecting the unique circumstances of each individual, we can create an environment of inclusion wherein everyone is respected and supported.

The storytelling within In It Together is captivating and powerful. Hughes’s vivid descriptions allow readers to truly experience the sense of community he speaks about. His tales from his own life—as a young man growing up in a neighborhood struggling with poverty and violence—are especially moving.

In It Together is an important and timely book that is sure to leave readers feeling inspired, energized, and motivated to make a difference in the world around them. Hughes’s clear-eyed insights into the power of community are essential reading for anyone looking to make a positive change in their communities and the world at large. Highly recommended. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating!
