ARA Review by TristenWillis of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All- 3/5 STARS

This is not my usual genre for reading, but every now and then I like to switch things up and at least once per year I venture out to read a self-help book to some degree.

This is portrayed as a self-help book with the message that everyone is connected to anyone, that there is beautify and positivity in the world if you open your eyes to look for it. It is a thought-provoking concept which quickly captures the reader.

Unfortunately, I found the author would constantly form an opinion, then later contradict their opinion and it was unclear if this was intended to be strategic to allow the reader to view both things from multiple angles and thus form their own opinion on the matter or weather the author was simply unsure of their own opinion on the matter.

The reason why this book did not warrant a four-star rating is due to the fact that whilst the book was well written and eloquent, I personally found the authors opinion and overall message something that just did not resonate with me or my own beliefs. I chose to give a midline score as I do not believe that allowing my own personal beliefs and opinions to sway my review. Whilst this book and its message did not resonate with me personally, this does not mean that it might not with another reader. Hence the neutral review.

The overall writing was well formatted and laid out with no noticeable errors (which is hard to come by when you self-publish, I have found). The writing style utilizes a soft, thought-provoking tone to combine a message of self-help, spirituality and philosophy.

Overall, whilst I did not personally resonate with some of the opinions and views formed in this book, it was thought provoking and allowed me to be considerate in my own perception.
