ARA Review by atxtherapist of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Reading the book In It Together by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes felt alternatively like a spiritual experience, a kick in the pants, and a warm hug. It so clearly articulates the ways in which we as a society have gotten away from embracing our humanity and instead have gotten into the cycle of striving and struggling.

The author begins by naming some of the problems that we are facing as a world and society and then proceeds to share ways in which the reader can begin to disconnect from the toxic culture of deriving value from external factors and reconnect with our core value as human beings. He outlines ten suggestions for living with more intention, mindfulness, love, and presence which provide practical guidelines for any reader to put into practice. He emphasizes the need to return to a sense of oneness and collective consciousness - not only in a metaphysical and spiritual sense, but in a practical sense of coming together as brothers and sisters in community.

Eckhart writes with love and honesty about the ways in which we disconnect from our humanness leads to the ills of spirit, mind, and body that so many of us in our society are experiencing today. In It Together is a gentle reminder that when we are disconnected from our core selves, we are unable to connect authentically to others. It is also a message of hope and healing as it reminds us that when we reconnect to our love for ourselves, our core purpose, our common humanity, our inner and outer worlds will reflect the change.

I give this book 5/5 star rating as it was not only incredibly well-written, but also served as a powerful reminder to pause, align myself with my purpose, and reflect on the ways in which my inner and outer world reflect the values I want to hold. This will be a book I will continue to revisit whenever I need a reset or moment of reflection. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a point of grounding and a compassionate voice of hope and direction.
