ARA Review by Andromeda Flynn of Melita

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Melita by Gill D. Anderson is a novel about a families and the hardships of keeping relationships with them. Life is a messy place and it's difficult to steer away from danger, especially when you're a teenage girl longing for freedom and escape. Melita got her wish, but it came at a grave cost.

Emily craved the warmth of a mother, but she never felt like she was good enough to get it from Melita. Melita was much too broken by the past to let any kind emotion slip through, leaving her a bitter outcast with reason even though she had reasons of her own. The past can eat away like a tumor and poison the life we truly want for the one of the past that has been destroyed.

Our lives are rarely the way that we want them to be, this goes for Emily whose inner most desire is to be loved. She has a family that adores her but she feels obligated to her mother who is cold to her.

This novel experiences the past, present, and future, as well as mindsets of different characters. It's a true study of human nature.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because I personally found it difficult to keep my pace in time and character. It often confused me, however it is still an excellent read.
