ARA Review by NinaOT of A Tale of Three Weddings

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

This is a fictional story of a woman whose husband, who seemingly abandoned her out of the blue three years ago, comes back into her life with suspicious explanations. Each short chapter takes us through the woman's fluctuating, confused emotions.

While she still loves her husband, she is hesitant to believe his story and struggles between holding onto fond memories of their previous life together versus the sharp pain that shattered her world following his abrupt departure.

The tale is well written, concise, and keeps the reader guessing. The author does a good job depicting the main characters' thoughts. Other strengths of this book are the vivid descriptions of Germany. The resolution in the final chapters to the conflict in the story is believable, if a bit rushed.

More descriptive language of Boston and the weddings would have added value to the book. There are some voids that, had they been addressed, would have made the story richer. What did the narrator do about her grandparents' actions? How did the connection with her friends and family weave into her decisions and reactions to the unfolding events?

Despite the short nature of the book and some of the backstory questions that are unanswered, I would give his book a 4/5 for the tight narrative and clear writing style.
