ARA Review by soumi+ of Moonlit Nights

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Moonlit Nights by Jacob Parr

It is a thrilling crime novel that delves into a world of horror, darkness, and the supernatural. As a reader, I was eager to explore the intriguing premise of a crime spree in the Washington Metropolitan Area, with a twist that involves mutilated bodies and the protagonist Aidan Preston's descent into an unfamiliar and dangerous realm.

The story sets the stage for a gripping tale of murder and mayhem, as Aidan Preston is tasked with solving a series of gruesome murders. The narrative draws you in with the promise of a dark and mysterious investigation, where the line between the law and the unexplained begins to blur. The concept of incorporating supernatural elements into a crime thriller is a promising one, and it holds the potential for an engaging and suspenseful read.

However, the promise of the plot is marred by significant issues in the execution. The most glaring problem is the editing and proofreading of the book. The numerous typos, dropped sentences, and incorrectly edited sentences, severely hamper the reader's experience. These issues can be distracting and make it difficult to fully immerse oneself in the story. A well-edited and polished book is essential for maintaining the reader's engagement, and this is an area where Moonlit Nights falls short.

Furthermore, the mention of the author's extensive research is a double-edged sword. While research can enhance the authenticity of a novel, it appears that in this case, it may have been incorporated to an excessive extent, contributing to the length of the book. This can lead to the story feeling dragged out and may test the reader's patience. A well-balanced integration of research into the narrative is crucial to maintaining a smooth and enjoyable reading experience.

Despite these issues, the novel has the potential to be an engaging and unique thriller. The concept of combining crime and supernatural elements is intriguing and has the potential to captivate readers. However, a thorough review and editing process is necessary to rectify the issues and present the story in a more refined and compelling form.

I would rate three out of five stars as it offers an enticing premise but falls short in its execution due to editing and length issues. The story's potential is evident, and with the necessary improvements, it could become a captivating addition to the crime and supernatural thriller genre.
