ARA Review by Yashika Kapoor 1 of The Devil's in the Daughter

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The Devil’s in the Daughter is a powerful story of love, betrayal, the complexity of family bonds and the will for redemption. The plot largely revolves around the characters engaging the audience, dissatisfaction with the mother-daughter relationship being the distinguishing theme of the work.

This book received 4 out of 5 renders because the book manages to impress in many areas but missed out in a number of areas as well for it to receive a perfect score.

This novel has excellent character development as one of the major highlights of this pack. The author has been able to construct realistic and flawed three-dimensional figures quite commendably. The central character faces internal conflicts in the truest sense, and her path to self-growth as well as self-forgiveness is beautifully presented. The same goes for the smaller characters in the novel who had their own struggles and also added to the story experiences different elements of the family bond.

The plot is interesting and contains some surprises that the reader should expect as they go through the book. A new twist comes up, when you think you know how the plot runs, making the readers rethink the entire premise, enhancing the layers of the narrative. There is a lot of tension packed within the story and as a result, the readers are kept engaged as the focus steadily shifts with regard to the action occurring.

However, I must admit that the pacing of the narrative was, at times, off.
