ARA Review by Babert Spondo of No Rest for the Innocent

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I love fantasy books, not particularly romance. But every now and again, I read outside my preferred genres, to...expand my interests so-to-say.

What we have here is mixture of fantasy, romance and a little bit of science fiction. There are even parts of it that delve slightly into superhero-style antics, which is more up to my speed. The romance is told in a way that is more playful and cheeky rather than overly dramatic declarations of love and longing. I preferred that.
The characters each speak with very distinct accents. The author made generous use of onomatopoeia. Some may find this annoying, but for me, I didn't mind. It helped with the immersion, and really made the characters' distinct voices and antics stand-out.

The main character, is what you see depicted on the front cover, so I don't think that counts as a spoiler. I found the explanation of the magic system to explain the how the main character came to be in the state shown on the front cover, quite entertaining when it was described.

Although, I would have wished sometimes that the magic system, and the general setting were explained a little better.
