ARA Review by shaikh_noorafsha_7 of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

Agree:
This book hit different. I honestly agree with how Hughes portrays struggle—not as something to run away from, but something that’s deeply woven into our humanity. The way he writes about connection, pain, healing, and how we’re all facing different versions of the same battle made me feel seen. Like… maybe I’m not as alone as I thought.

Reflect:
Reading this came at a time I didn’t even know I needed it. I’ve always felt like I was carrying too much on my own—dreams, pressure, the weight of being the eldest, the need to break generational patterns. And this book reminded me: others are carrying, too. And somehow, even in our pain, we’re in it together.
There were moments when I had to close the book and just… breathe. Some sentences stayed with me longer than expected. Especially the ones that whispered, "You’re doing your best. That’s enough for now."

Articulate:
If you're someone who's constantly trying, constantly holding it together while silently falling apart at times—this book will wrap itself around you like a quiet hug. Hughes doesn’t preach; he just reminds you of what you already know deep down but sometimes forget: that your struggle is not a weakness, but a bridge that connects you to others.
It’s raw. It’s gentle. It’s powerful in its simplicity. It won’t magically solve everything, but it might shift something inside you—and that’s more than enough to start with.

4.5/5
