I like her as a character very much I think she is very inspiring. Reminds me of some positive and strong woman in my life.

Sarah played a very Important roll after landing on the Island. William knew that she was young and he could count on her.

I tend to agree. Sarah was my favorite character by far.

I think Sarah was the one who gave hope, especially in the end. She believed that William is still alive and that somehow gave hope to others, no matter how dire the situation was. To others, her optimism may be just innocence because she's young, but that very thing also made her special in the story.

I think they go hand in hand. It was William's story of Sarah's bravery and positivity that kept the crew alert and hopeful. If he had not told it, none of them would have known about it. While at home, Sarah's belief that William would be found gave inspiration to the others to keep searching.

Sarah is representative of that person we all know. That person that realistically insists on the impossible positive and drives us all to achieve it because they just won't have any negativity. Annoying, frustrating with their dogma. But uber necessary.
Experience is a harsh tutor for she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards. - Vernon Law

You might as well read about it in a book.

though Sarah's unshakable trust might be because of her young age, her trust and intuition are what everyone needs in their life. I read Adrift first but I will surely read Strong Heart only for Sarah.

I can see Sarah as a spiritual leader when she gets older. She was so brave, strong-willed, and tough. I felt that she was the glue in Myra's group. Withour her, William would surely suffer.

Sarah seems like an epitome of positive thoughts even the in most perilous of circumstances. It's great in a way, but don't think she contributed to this story in particular so much. Yeah she did support and motivate.

William was the wise sage who guided his fellow crew members with stories. He gave them hope through describing Sarah and her experiences. While I read Adrift first, I did go back and read Strong Heart afterwards. I wish I had read it first as the large cast of characters in Adrift made it more difficult. Also, understanding Sarah's perseverance and how her character developed in Strong Heart would have given me a different perspective and improved my predictive powers over how Adrift would end. I do think understanding Sarah's strength and faith is pivotal.

Sarah and William were seen as the 'strong' key characters in the book, regardless of the wide gap between their ages. I wouldn't say it was either or, more like both of them having some crucial role - Sarah as the inspiring agent and William as the deliverer of that inspiration.

I think Sarah's optimism and beliefs kept everyone going. She made sure people did not give up and kept pushing them to find William. Also, when William was narrating Sarah's story, it gave the crew some confidence that if a little girl could survive something, even they could.

To be honest, if it wasn't for Sarah I would have left the book in between. She was the most positive and cheery character in this book- which already had it's share of serious situations and characters. She added life to the book.

I think William's positivity to raise the morale of others helped the crew to keep their sanity. Sarah was only the intermediary in William's story with whom the crew members could identify in order not to lose their hope of survival in the extreme conditions of Haida Gwaii's winters.
