Travis noticed something fishy and was going to look into it, and then it never went anywhere. I am really hoping that's the subject of the third book. Otherwise, why include it at all?
I was excited as well. I really wanted to know the truth, even because Buckhorn is trying to blame the captain for the accident. The author set the story in a way that something is definitely going to happen in the next book, and Pete will help Travis by testifying against Buckhorn.

Definitely it has something to do with the fire. So I am also curious and looking forward to get a glimpse at it

I thought there might be a connection between the mysterious containers on the ship and Buckhorn wanting the mining rights. Was the fire started to destroy evidence or to bypass inspection? I agree. I hope Sheldon answers these questions in his third book.

The author has left enough threads hanging to whet your appetite for book three. There was something mysterious about this shipment which we are yet to find out.

There are a lot of things we still don't know. The fire was definitely suspicious, the engineer (Mark, was it) was too, and of course what were those cargos? What's going to happen? So far, in this book, we only managed to find all the survivors. If there's not going to be a third book, then I think the rest of the plot was unnecessary.

I was intrigued by this too. And I felt that the author owned me an explanation. I was waiting for an answer all throughout the book. And when I didn't any, I was hugely disappointed.

But I guess that means I have to read the next book. The explanation could be in there. I hope.

I wanted to know more about this too. The fact that this plot point wasn't wrapped up was a huge bother for me, and the way how the Russians were acting suspiciously made me want to know even more. This seems like a perfect point to go off for the next book.

Buckhorn is definitely involved in some shady dealings. I thought Travis would investigate and write about it since he seemed to suspect them. Also, there was mention of Pete providing him some inside info. I hope there's a 3rd book and it answers some of the questions.

I think the containers contains illegal mining tools that may spoil the environment.

I am hundred percent sure this will be the basic plotline for the third book. Steve's suspicion wasn't just about the contents, it was about the placement as well.

It could be some stuff being smuggled from Russia. The author did not complete this plot segment.

I've thought about the content of those containers for a while; don't think I have gotten anywhere with that.
The writer has got me expecting a third book, in which that question would be answered.
