What was in the containers blocking the tunnel of the Empress?

I kept thinking that we would learn what was inside the containers that had the Russian lettering on them that were blocking the tunnel of the Empress. Do you think this was important to the story since we don’t really find out? Maybe this will be revealed in a third book? 🧐

Definitely there's something going on with the containers, maybe about what's in them, maybe simply their placement in a place where they'd cause the most damage. Probably both.

I’m really hoping we find out because I’ve been wondering the same thing. The fire on the Express was no accident, that much I’m sure of.

I was excited about the mystery around the start of the fire and the containers. Travis noticed something fishy and was going to look into it, and then it never went anywhere. I am really hoping that's the subject of the third book. Otherwise, why include it at all?

I agree that the author has started a story line that will be developed in the third book. Could this be the downfall of Buckhorn? The knowledge of the containers is no longer secret!

Perhaps the fire was meant to divert attention from those boxes, or maybe the contents of the boxes are to be used in the upcoming mining by Buckhorn

I have had the same question ever since I completed the book. I guess it was something to do with the Russians smuggling stuff and making Buckhorns rich. It can be a conspiracy against the country even. There are so many possibilities, I hope Charlie Sheldon can shed some light on that.

I do believe this would be discussed further in the third book. Including it in this book indicates to that. I think this would be something about Buckhorn being involved in smuggling to make more money. From this book, a point has already been established that Buckhorn is a greedy corporation working for their own profit making without any regards to the welfare of the community.

I agree. I hadn't considered that the contents rather than just the placement might be important.

Possibly it's both the placement and the contents, but I'm curious!

I guess it was important to include them for two reasons. One, it was because of the containers that the members of the crew were hindered from locating the fire thus the plot of the story was also enhanced. The second is that I think the contents of the containers have a huge role in what Buckhorn will be doing. I thought that what was in the containers was revealed.

I think something illegal. The fire and the way the company acted after their ship was "taken" Maybe drugs or weapons I wonder why our rescuers didn't open them.

Since the whole situation was sketchy, my first thought was drugs. I don't think there's any evidence to support that, but it's the first thing that popped into my mind. Like others said, maybe the contents will be revealed in the next book.

Yes, like all the others, I also thought this would pan out to something tangible. I believe it makes the meat of the next book. Even so, a few tidbits would have at least firmed our suspicions. I also think the why and how of the fire was fishy.

From the moment the fire started and the alarms failed to work, Steve suspected something. I believe this suspicion could also be having something to deal with the contents.
