Fantasy is my genre as well. Re-reading favorite books is another way I get out of a reading slump.

My type of book that I lean towards when I'm in a slump is pretty specific. It is usually young adult, although a clean adult novel would work. It's almost always science fiction and more specifically usually dystopian. But, it also has to grab me within the first few pages if I'm in a slump. And as gali suggested, rereading an old book will sometimes do the trick, too.

I lean more toward thrilling and horror, with a touch of action to get out of a slump. Just something to really scare the pants off me really. After I get through one of those, I run toward a soothing adventure novel if I can, or a fun romantic comedy. I'm all over the place when it comes to my reading!

Haha you put that so well. "All over the place" describes me too, if you look at my bookshelves! I can go from the horror and fantasy worlds of Matthew Tysz's The Turn and The King of May, to the fascinating theory of the Biblical Clock. I'm still not quite understanding what you all mean by a reading slump, though? I don't think I've ever experienced one!

When I'm in a reading slump I go for graphic novels/manga/comics and select non-fiction (like books on local landmarks and locations). When it gets severe I go for art, crafting and gardening books.
