Even though it made me giggle, I admit that it did spoil things a bit for me and I couldn't take it very seriously after. You're right about that. It did seem a bit childish, though a warning nonetheless. We consider this book as adult fiction, right? Now that I think about it, if adults are the targeted audience, I'm sure we grown folks can handle a bit of intercourse? Lol, if this was a YA or general audience book I could understand the need to warn about sex... :|
Thanks for the perfectly worded response. Adult fiction does not require for warned sex scenes.

I never focused on the emboldened subtitles in the chapters that much. They never really meant anything other than stresses on major happenings in the novel.

But they were major spoilers in the beginning of the chapter, or a specific direction the author tried to force the reader ro pay attention to.

They definitely felt like the author was trying to get you to a certain place too obviously.

It did. If the book is meant for adults then the author should trust her audience to be able to handle adult content.

It did not bother me, but they did interrupt the flow of the book. If it were up to me, the book would be better without them.

I didn't pay that much attention, I found the book easy to follow.

This are my sentiments as well. I saw this as childish and somewhat disrespectful to readers and their age.

It does seem to break the flow of reading and might even pull you out of the flow of the story. It is highly subjective, but it would definitely bother me. Honestly, to me it also seems a little unprofessional and almost reminds me of author's notes in Wattpad.

Exactly, Watpad. That's what it reminds me of. For me, I saw them as the unprofessional nudge in the direction the author wanted you to face in any chapter.

To be honest, when I saw the "this section is R rated" and then "the end of R rated", I was like "what?!" I have never ever in my entire reading life seen this in any book, no matter how much R rated the content was... To be honest, it felt a bit like I was reading the retelling of 50ties tv spy romance.

They didn't bother me. I'm not sure, but I think I read someplace that this book was part of a weekly (monthly?) submission to a magazine. If true, it could be the reason for all the subtitles. I agree with you, they weren't necessary given it was compiled into a book. Sorry it took away from your enjoyment. :-(

I wasn't particularly bothered by them, honestly. I understand why some people might be annoyed by it, however.
