I agree that there is no conflict. When I read it I was also struck by the fact that the threats couldn’t find who was causing the problem. These terrorists are supposed to be very technologically advanced, but they couldn’t stop two college kids?

The boredom of the romance aspect didn't make me understand the cyber war story well. But from the way it started it seemed easy.

Yeah I agree with you, the cyber war was too easy and it made the book unrealistic

They experienced some difficulty at the later end of this book but I cared so little about that. I just think a lot of areas in this book was very underdeveloped.

I'm glad someone raised this up though, anyone who doesn't know too much about the cyber war may think it's as easy as it was portrayed.

Yes, the war was somehow too easy, though most of the fighting was done online by computer hackers and gigabytes, while a few battles were offline, where they had to kick into action to stop a few attacks.

It sounded easy in the book but I must say as a computer scientist the cyber war wasn't that easy but too complex.

It sounded simple, but you would need to be educated, have a computer, and other equipment to carry out the work of a cyber war.

I think it's too simple because the author doesn't have enough knowledge of technology, security, politics, and espionage. I have two degrees in international politics and found the portrayal to be surface-level. It is not insulting or condescending but ignorant. It's a cool idea, but the author is unqualified for the topic.

It sounded easy but you would have the education and computer and the other equipment to be able to do the work of a cyber war. So I really disagree that it would be easy even if the book made it look easy.

Letora wrote: 03 Jul 2019, 08:14 As I am reading through the book, it seems like whenever the cyberwar is brought up, there isn't any conflict. They take down websites, change language, break encryptions, but nothing has been happening to them! Being over halfway through the book I find it hard to believe that everything is going off perfectly and there has been no connection to Cynthia and her brother. Does anyone else feel this way?
I felt exactly this same way. The Cyber war seemed very cheap and easy in this book.

I was expecting to see more havoc orchestrated by the cyber-war, but it never came...making the 'war' more like a joke.
