Yes God's love is poured abundantly on his people. This unconditional love is seen in the books of the New Testament. The author has based his argument on this book. However, at judgement, we'll see if His, God's love will still be abundant.

In the old testaments, God's judgement was instant. Its true that God's love is poured out in the new testament. This abundant love will not be available at the day of judgement.

The story about Abraham becoming a great nation shows God's love. Even those stories that deal with God's punishment show His love. Do we punish our children because we hate them? Punishment is an act of love. The Bible says whom God loves He chastens.

I think even though God's wrath seems unloving, in reality it is since it protects the rest of his children long term.

In every action, there are consequences, be it bad or good. Cain committed a crime, which in truer sense is death penalty, but God still shows him Love by give a segregation mark on him.

There are many instances where these love of God are shown in the old testament. Only that, to whom much is given, much is also expected. For example, God's love for Abraham and his lineage. Even when they went astray, he still remembers his promise unto Abraham.

God's love don't see any difference in any living being. The stories given in the book are examples of this. God's love is something that anyone can get from him.

In my opinion, God's love is written over every single story in the Bible. In Several instances God could have dealt decisively with man but His love and compassion always comes to forefront. Take the incident in the garden of Eden, or the atrocity committed by Cain. God is love indeed.

When Adam fell, God immediately installed a redemptive tool in the form of sacrifices. This shows that He loves humankind so much that He gave them a second chance instead of destroying the current and creating new human beings.

I suppose one OT story that showed God's love was the story where Abraham was about to kill Isaac, but God stopped him and promised to provide the sacrifice himself. :techie-studyingbrown:

God's demonstration of love is scattered throughout the old testament. The story of Cain and Abel is outstanding. Cain got a second chance in spite of the fact that he killed his brother Abel. God still looked down on him with pity and forgave him; hence shielding him from the grave consequences of this heinous and abominable action.

I think most of the stories in the old testament truly show Gods wrath and judgment. Laws and laws to follow.

I agree, I think God's love shone off the pages after Cain killed his brother. God could have turned his back on Cain, but instead he ensured his safety.
I'm with you on this as well. There is no truer reflection of God's love than in this story.
Is this really a depiction of His love, though? He tells Cain to murder Abel. Regardless of the fact that He put a mark on Cain to save his life, He still orchestrated it. How is that love?
God did not tell Cain to kill Abel! God warned Cain about his anger and bad attitude.

God's love is present even in the midst of his judgement. Like the period where the people of Israel were punished and in anguish. God made Moses to put a serpent on a stick and anyone who looked at it lived.
