What makes Will a relatable character?

Will was such an introvert on the beginning of the book. Yet, when he needed to, he stepped up in a big way. These are the type of characters I really relate to. My default setting is to be by myself, but that doesn't mean I can't do what's needed.

Yes. Will, is relatable character. The story begin when the two have been kidnapped. And because of braveness of Will to look after his sister, I assume that the story can no longer more readable without those scene.

I like how Will was consistently portrayed as a 12-year-old boy. Many fantasy novels featuring kids have the kids doing things that kids wouldn't really do. But Will was consistently thoughtless and coming up with silly ideas like a real 12-year-old would. He was likeable and sympathetic.

It seems as though Will is the perfect personification of many boys going through that preteen stage of struggling to determine who they are and who they'll become. He is sensitive and introspective, brave and courageous. From young boyhood to old age, certain males are capable of forming intense bonds with their pets and sympathy for all living creatures in general. It's those that possess loyalty, charisma, perseverance and curiosity who will go far in life. I think he's a very relatable character indeed!

I enjoyed this portrayal of a boy coming of age and his courage in the face of so many new, different and dangerous things. His love for his sister and his parents, and his concern for doing the right thing in each circumstance that he meets makes him quite relatable.
