My best friend and I just celebrated our 19th anniversary. Friendship can be a magical thing. But there are also quite a few people I've met in my life that I thought were better friends then they actually were. Often in books, friendship is portrayed as this unbreakable bond. Sometimes, that's just not the case.

I think that, without his friends, Will wouldn't have been able to make it. Friendship is important and this makes the story look real enough.

I agree. He achieved everything with help of friends. It makes the story easy to feel real. If he had done everything himself, that would have been unrealistic.

I agree with you. The author really showed the value of friendship in the book. The amazing part is that, he did not only focus on humans but included animals as well to show that they all have roles in our life. Great observation

I had the same feeling, and I agree that friendship brought a realistic element to the story. Having some good friends around is essential to our mental and soul health.

I think you made a fair take on it, Its a pretty common theme for children literature.

I think friends are especially important for everyone. And beyond that, it would be nearly impossible to build a story without the protagonist and all other characters having friends. Even on a premise where the character is supposed to lack friends, I think it would be difficult to show at least on person caring for them. Suffice to say, I liked the whole aspect of the protagonist being friends with animals, it was a tad novel to me.

Friendship is an extremely valuable thing to have, and this book goes to show that without it, it would be difficult to obtain our goals.

Personally, I love books that have groups of friends at the forefront, especially children's books. No man is an island, and even heroes need help.

The value of friendship definitely translates into real life, so it's lovely to see it as a literary theme. Surround yourself with who you want to be, because eventually you'll become just like those with whom you surround yourself!

There nothing wrong with having animals as pet. As long that they assist in the establishment of goals, they qualify to be friends.

Showing how friends can help can be a great, but authors need to be careful that outside help doesn’t drive the plot and result in lazy writing. I found that in The Lord of the Rings. Things were achieved by other characters turning up in the nick of time and completely by accident.

Will being surrounded by his friends means that he has a strong charm and a pleasant personality that's why his friends gravitate to him. It also displays that one man alone can't overcome everything and he needs other's help. There is also the power of friendship in this situation.
