My least favorite characters were Will's parents. Particularly his father. Neither one seemed to notice or appreciate that they got Will back from Echoland. My favorites were any of the characters in Olam Shone. They were sweetness and light after so many dark scenes.

Character i loved - Peter , he was fun and loyal through to the end
Character i didn't like- the cruel gate keeper and the fate sealers.

It bothered me too that they seemed not to care that they had a son. For 10 years they focused only on the child they lost and in turn lost the child they had

I agree with you and would reiterate the healthy dislike and contempt I had for the Game Keeper.

I think they had lost hope in both their children and when Will returned, they felt they could never lose hope that Emmy was still alive somewhere. The guilt of giving up hope on their children drove them to constantly hold out for Emmy's return.

I thought a lot of the characters really didnt get the chance to shine or develop much. Mainly Will and Peter were the focus, otherwise we just caught snippets of everyone else

I really liked Emmy and Valerie but they were not overly explored in this book.

I loved Will and Peter! I felt that they were both strong characters on their own, and when they were together, their banter just added another wonderful layer to them both! It was great to see their friendship grow over time! I wanted to like the Prince, but I just couldn't connect with him in the same way, which was disappointing.

Yes, if I lost a child I would never give up hope that they would return someday. It was just sad that neither of them seemed to pay any attention to will, focusing ALL of their energy on Emmy alone.

And Valerie really could have contributed more! She could have been like Hermione for will and Peter ;)

I agree! The Prince didn't really shine - more like pushed Will and Peter in the right direction, but had them complete the tasks for him

What a relevant question!

I think I like Will mostly, due to his bravery.

He was a character that actually distinguish himself in the story.

Although each character is unique, I would stick with Will as my hero.

For the villain, Victor will fill that part.

Despite this, I also enjoyed scenes when the prince and Will had to figue things out. The comparison between the two was always at the forefront of my mind.

I liked Valerie from the beginning of the book with her pet selection and her adventurous personality. I hoped she would have gotten a large part ro play in the story but that sid not happen.
