I think the right balance was used but I imagine if there is a sequel that they be given a more dialogue filled roll.

Sorry for the girl's very minimal exposure in the novel. Well, obviously, the story is monarchal, patriarchal, or male-dominated. The plot may be revised in the future once the clamor about sexist tendencies in the novel is acted upon, we hope so.

I am really hoping it means we will get to see them in another installment. I would not mind if there was a series that focused on each of the characters. Especially what went on with Emmy when she first arrived in Echoland. That would be really interesting.

Yeah, which is interesting considering that Drew Pellucid is a female author!

I feel like the author wanted to highlight just the main character. But as we can see, without supporting character, the book isn't as good as it could be. I mean honestly, Emily could have been written off completely and not even have been noticed because of how little of a role she played.

The girls in the story were basically non-existent, only two were even mentioned and even then not given much as way of character development. The girls certainly brought tons of action to the plot as they saved the day more than once. I hope that in the future novels the girls are given more time in the spotlight.

I think that the girls in the book didn't get the attention they deserved. I prefer to read books that have strong female characters, and it really bothered me how the author ignored the girls in the novel. I would love to see them getting more attention.

Well, that depends on the author and the roles he has for them. Characters are chosen based on the roles they are to play. If the roles that the author wants people to play do not need female attention, females may not just be put there just because they need attention.

I would definitely like to see where things go with Emily. I think there is a lot of potential in the sequel for her.

The girls in the story weren't given much attention. Will and the other boys are like the main actors and the girls are like the assistants.

I also found myself wishing that Emmy played a larger role- it just felt odd to me that his whole life had revolved around finding her, and when he finally did, she was barely mentioned. Though I also felt that Will sort of blindly accepted or overlooked a lot of things that he should have had more issue with (such as the existence of an entirely new world underground), so I sort of felt the oversight of attention to minor characters just fit with that overall larger issue with the writing.

Each character should be given importance. If the writer skipped it for girls then it is a little disappointment for me.

I did notice the female character were not given enough attention. I believe at the end of the day it's all up to the author to decide on such, though it would have been better for them to have major roles.

I always enjoy when females play a more integral role in stories, especially when they're important to the overall plot. So hopefully they will get attention in the next book.
