Also, I liked how Poudini somehow brings to mind Houdini, the great escapist artist/magician.

Yes! I believe it derives from the book "Damian" from Hermann Hesse, a classic from the last century.Falling4Ever wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 15:17 Now that I think about it, wasn't Damian the name of the Antichrist in The Omen?

That's great. I didn't think of Marcus Aurelius, but it's a good reference.esp1975 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 16:24 I thought Aurelius's name was important. It generally means golden or gilded, but I thought it was a great name for a half-sound, half-echo. In addition, it brought to mind Marcus Aurelius, the Roman Emperor and Stoic philosopher. It had me wondering if he might end up being the next ruler or Olam Shalome.

Houdini is also whom I had in mind! Great minds think alikeNoosh wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019, 05:30 Peter Patrick Peterson is the first name that stood out for me. Aside from the fact that it is alliterative, it is also meaningful. Peter means rock in Greek , Patrick means nobleman and is romanized , and Peterson is Scandinavian meaning son of Peter.
Also, I liked how Poudini somehow brings to mind Houdini, the great escapist artist/magician.

I really enjoyed the fact there were many Hebrew references throughout the book. Jewish heritage is a pillar of the history of the world, so it all made sense. I kept thinking "world" wherever I read olam .HeatherEi wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019, 11:07 I really enjoyed the names that Dew Pellucid created. I thought it was interesting that the book kept referencing Hebrew names. I am assuming that the author is Jewish and wanted to intertwine her heritage through the story. Do you think that added to the story or did it seem out of place?

I didn't catch that a lot of the names were Hebrew-based, but I think it adds another layer of interest to the story! I think it is a nice addition personally.HeatherEi wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019, 11:07 I really enjoyed the names that Dew Pellucid created. I mean, okay, the author knows how to play with names. I like that.

He is Auralius. Different spelling. Is that the same as Aurelius?Nendu87 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019, 15:50That's great.
