Will was courageous as a character but having good friends around him pushed his potential and opened possibilities for him to exert his bravery.

I agree. But in reality people should be more kind towards each other.

In reality, no man can be an island. Friendship is very important to humans. You can see here that were it not for these friends, Will could not have sailed through. This is why God commanded in the holy writ that we should not be hostile to even animals.

I whole-heartedly agree. We can't make it through life just on our own. I think there were various forms of friends that Will had help with. I think that's a consistent theme in other books as well. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc.

It shows that Will valued his friends and his achievements were the results of the support he received from those he surrounded himself with.
As the popular saying goes 'no man is an island'.

Friendship is a thing which not only connect humans but, also animals, as shown in the book. The help given by friends can make an impossible task, possible and this is well define in the story.

The friendships seemed to be the central theme. None of the action could carry through without the myriad of interactions.

I struggled with this theme in the book. The idea is that Will makes many friends, but this doesn't seem to be described in depth. The struggle to know whom to trust when making new friends is completely explained, but not delved into as deeply as it could be. The author does make the challenge understandable to young readers though.

I loved this theme in the book. It was written really well, where both animal and human friendships are focused on and I really enjoyed reading about it.

The author really made the book a fantasy, friendship between humans and friendship between animals. It shows much about friendship.

The value of friendship is one of the most precious in our lives. I always love books where friendship is an important part of the story, and The Crystilleries of Echoland is one of those books. Most of what they achieved couldn't have been done without friendship.
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

It is evident in this book that friends don't always have to be human. Will had a special bond with both his animal friends as well as Damian and Dea, Elly, Peter and Frankenstein.

Friends are the ultimate form of help to survive any situation. Certainly, Will would not have survived without his friends!
