It was sickening how he laughed as he drove away after killing the office manager and his secretary at the mine.

The author did a great job of making the reader hate this villain.
I agree too :)

A lot of persons are saying that they hates Dirk because he was remorseless and evil. He's a villian. The things that you hate about him are what makes him the perfect villain.

I really disliked Dirk as well. He didn't seem to care at all that he had to kill people to get what he wanted, even if the people were on his side. He also took advantage of Douglas' friendship, which he was obviously using to gain information. Luckily, Douglas didn't know much of anything. He just oozed evil.

DeGroot likes killing too much for my taste.

Dirk was quite disturbing.
However, what I think is a true enemy is the system. The VA system pitches people one kind against one another in a useless battle for crumbs.

I can't decide between DeGroot and Dirk. Both were evil with no redeeming qualities at all. I like seeing some backgrounds or "triggers," if you will, but these guys were just scum. Well-written scum.

I disliked Dirk aka Degroot. He is mean and too willing to shed blood in his quest for power. However I must admit, I love his style. Like when he killed at the mine and screamed for help before getting into his car. I found that cool and smart.

Dirk is the most evil character as he is a complete sociopath, without any feelings and empathy for fellow human beings. He is also extremely arrogant and believes that he knows everything. In the end that arrogance got him caught. The most brutal scene with him was when one of the soldiers gets injured towards the end of the book and he just shoots him.

No question for me DeGroot is the worst. Pure evil with no redeeming qualities.

I disliked DeGroot a lot. But I would definitely say that he is a good antagonist in this story.

Definitely, I disliked Pieter de Groote/Dirk the most! He was a cold-hearted assassin; the murder at the tin mine gave me goosebumps! 😨

I disliked De Groot the most. He had a diabolical'ness' about him that makes readers hate him.

I disliked both the Germans posing as Dutchmen. I think what I disliked the most was the way they used Robert. Obviously Robert should have been smarter but I felt sorry for him.
