War is hell.
Was an hold saying among the mankind. This book does a good job reminding us that.
Our lifestile, our liberties have a heavy price paid in only one currency: Blood.

There are the noble causes of freedom and equality and there are also those of we are ashamed of call. Vietnam war was one of few fougth for liberty. We tossed a lot of lads with their hearts filled with love four the country to defend the nation name. It was a horrifing hell were you dont know if tomorrow you or your best friend get killed even in the bathroom. The war was comunism aganist capitalism. The red ones were extending their cluches on Nam and we heve to stop them was the motto.

But the war was lost and the shame is on them. The politics of the time cleansed their hands and covered their arses. They dont fougt enougth, they dont spill the guts in the mud of a ditch enougth. They become junkies out of pleasure. Not beacuse we give them meths and other thing in the war. And there is also a lot of morons speaking of deniying them their hard and well eraned pensions.

If their become broken it is our responsability. There is the obligation to endorse them. They did not choose to go to that war in most of the cases. They had go to that war to defend the country honor. And the ones dishonoring them are these ones that smear sh*t on their names.

I tried to read this book. I was a teenager during the Vietnam era and thought if would give me more insight into what it was really all about. Unfortunately, all the talk of strategies was confusing to me and I gave up halfway through.

I haven't read the book yet but does sound really interesting. Although I don't like wars, it is interesting to know about things that really happened, and how people may have been affected. Veterans still around may feel the comfort that what they went through so appreciated, and just knowing that there was a war is enough for some of us (I did not know and was not around at that time)

I rated the book 4/4 stars. Even though I don't enjoy these kind of genres, I was engrossed in finishing it. Miller showed his expertise in writing historical fictions which made me love this book. Also, it provides background of the history.

Rated this book 4/4 stars. I like Zack's patriotism, devotion, and loyalty. However, the ending is heart-breaking. One of the many consequences of greed in human nature.

Working for the Department of Veterans Affairs myself I feel like I would benefit reading this book to learn more of about the veterans I serve. I haven't started reading it yet but after reading the comments I plan to!
