I found it inspirational while reading, but it was also hilarious to see what craziness ensued when the characters, especially the boys, attempted to fulfill this rule, and it usually led to not-so-good outcomes within the story.
True. It sounded like suicide mission.

I hate "he who wines loudest wears the pink bracelet". It's such a sign of toxic masculinity. Most women I know bear pain better than men, and whine less than men. It degrades both the color pink and women.

However, I do like the rules about pushing beyond your limits and traveling under your own power. (As a female, I obviously don't care about rule #1 at all.) Those are rules that empower people and aid in a journey of both discovery and self-discovery.

Wow. I never thought of it that way. Thanks for your input.

I would have to say "Go beyond your limits" are my favorite but I keep on thinking what the pink bracelet looks like. My husband is of the opinion that because they are men, the bracelet would be a survival bracelet made with pink paracord.

I agree with you on this one. I am only on the fifth mission, but the awarding of the bracelet has been my favorite part so far even though it is very sexist and politically "incorrect".

 Skipping a day is okay, but a week. I wonder how the protagonist and his friends coped with the sweaty smell after a long day of activities.

I like the idea of limited whining! The pink bracelet is a valid way of limiting it, I would say! I might suggest that to a few traveling companions on my next trip. :lol2:

That's a good idea. But then the game wouldn't be fun. :D

I have been trying to imagine one of the guys trekking with a sprained foot and claiming he is okay while the pain escalates. It's a manly thing though, a girl would scream the hills down.
I agree. It's like men are meant to keep their pain to themselves   But why?
According to the story, there were challenging situations like trekking over long distances, biking, eating strange food and the like, so there is one person who is bound to complain/wine about something at some point, hence the pink bracelet...

This book somewhat reminds me of a movie called Tag.

This is a very considerate rule since they'd be spending time in remote places.

What's your favorite Man Mission Rule? Let's share.
After finishing the book, I realized that this rule is laden with meaning. The way they were against whining, translates to the narrator's confession that he was made to believe that it is not okay for a man to cry. It was so heartwarming how Alec gets to the point of taking on the pink bracelet readily and unashamed.
:D Only God gives the strength to smile in the face of death.

I like "Go beyond your limits" especially when it comes to hiking myself. I've definitely been in situations where I have had to push myself. Even though it was tough, looking back, I can say "I did that!"

The pink bracelet for the one who whines the loudest is a contradictory rule because it implies that women are the ones who whimper. In any case, it would be "Go beyond your limits."
