Have you been to any of the Man Mission locations?

Post by unamilagra »

Have you visited or lived in any of the locations of the man missions? Do you find the descriptions in the book to be accurate? I know the author is a travel blogger as well, so I assume they are pretty on target, but I did wonder.

Of all the places, the only one I have been to is Fiji (although I didn't ocean kayak). I found the kava ceremonies to be pretty accurate, it's basically the after-work pastime in Fiji to sit around and share kava, even in the big towns. If you are there, you will absolutely be invited to partake. Although, I never drank enough to get as high as the characters.

I've been to Kaui in Hawaii. The description was very accurate. I've also been to a section of Australia mentioned in the book (forget which Mission) and it sounded realistic. I've never been to Peru, but I live just a few hundred kilometers north of the Peruvian border and his description of the effects of high altitude, the open attitudes amongst tourists, as well as his guide are very realistic.

I visited Lima, Peru, for two weeks on a mission trip with my church. I enjoyed visiting some indigenous sites and helping the local communities there. I have been to Australia, but not specifically where the Man Mission location is either. That trip was a vacation with my family, but it was only for 2 days before heading to New Zealand.

I have been to Japan and Vietnam but not specifically where the Man Missions happened. I loved Japan, especially, so when they had their Mission there it made me want to come back.

Sadly, I have never been to any of the locations! I love the descriptions the author gives of each of the areas. I would love to go to Australia and Iceland to chase the northern lights!

I've travelled a bit around Lima, Peru a few years ago, but have yet to visit any other sites! I'm looking forward to reading this, might find a new travel destination...

Not yet, but if I get a chance I'd go to Japan. Their culture and reception is quite interesting based on what I read about them from the book.

Sadly, I have never been to any of the places mentioned in the missions in the book. However, I am travelling to Australia soon and I cannot wait to contrast the reality on the ground with the descriptions in the book.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been to any of them. I have flown over the Andes once on my way to Chile, but that’s it. I would love to visit Japan!

I haven’t read this book, but I have traveled a lot, and love books that take the reader to exciting places! The reviews and comments about this book tell me it’s well-written with lovely descriptions of its many settings. I’m sure I would enjoy 😊
