I don't get it. I thought it was unnecessary as I didn't even see the correlation between them and their activities.

I loved the quotes and I absolutely had no issues with them. It related to each chapter and added some flavor to it.

For me the biblical quotes at the start of a a new mission was only a means to attach some spirituality to the adventure. It made it personal to the author and i did not anything offence in it. It formed part of the literature. Or maybe, it was added to signify that the men would be guided by holy thoughts so that they do not cheat nor offend their wives.

I felt they were very relevant as it picked out points to emphasize on in the book.

I don't see any need for the Bible to be quoted at beginning of any mission. The author made it look personal to him or he is a religious person.

I liked the addition of the quotes and Bible passages. I do feel that it described what exactly was portrayed in the book.
