Which Situation was the worst?

The story is about four Australian men who “play, laugh, and swear” through often grueling and sometimes dangerous annual escapades over fifteen years. In Africa, the men come face-to-face with a lion. In the Pacific, they come upon a shark. They cross a Japanese mountain range by bicycle. On a remote island, they fall into a “Kava-coma” which Situation was the worst?

Coming face to face with a lion is probably something I'd be pretty terrified of! So that would be one of the worst things for me

Living in a landlocked country, I am very certain that I would not be anywhere close to any shark. So I definitely wouldn't want to come close to any lion.

I think the shark situation was the worst because they were almost killed. Reading that part terrified the heck out of me and I'm sure them also.

The brush with the drug smugglers was the most terrifying for me. Having spent hours binge watching documentaries on them, I feel they're greedy, vicious and ruthless people.

I do agree with you. That was really a terrifying moment.

When he shattered his ankle during a fall and had to have surgery in Hawaii, alone and far from family and friends. That felt like the lowest point ever.

When Sam lost his father during the trip to Spain. That was really sad.

Coming face to face with a Lion is unarguably the worst situation one could find himself.

I thought the worst moments for the protagonist in the book were when he was in Hawaii, and feeling completely alone. That stuck out as a really challenging time.

The scare of having to look for someone who might already be dead. It made me very anxious.
