For me, this was the only off-putting part of the book. Although the reason of Adam's feelings are explained towards the end, I still found it on odd twist to include in a book for young adults.

I found it quite off-putting. It didn't really add to the plot, in my opinion. Adding something like the Oedipus complex in a story could work, but then it needs some time to be properly set-up. That wasn't the case here-we were just kinda thrown into it. It's not really what you expect when it's supposed to a YA book.

This aspect of the book is solely the reason I'm considering not finishing the book at all. It makes me very uncomfortable and it's hard to read IMO.

I felt really awkward in the beginning as his attraction for Jo was described. But I was relieved to know that it was because of the serum inside Jo's body that Adam felt attracted towards her.

I don't exactly see what the author wanted to achieve with all that controversial information, but I simply don't think it's necessary to the plot.
