I rated the book 3 of 4 stars. It really does have everything you look for in a young adult novel. And what I liked the least had nothing to do with the story. I hate the use of present-tense in books. A few authors can get away with it, but not many. That, combined with the pretty constant point-of-view shifts (sometimes for only a sentence) bothered me. But I thought the relationships were done really well, Carly's relationship with her mother being my favorite part of the book.

I would warn folks that while it is a young adult novel, it is not one that will work well for younger teens. It definitely has some darker material that is not suitable for less mature readers.

This book is an awesome book. I am a big fan of vampires. But this novel has the humour, suspence, and fun. It deserves a 4 out of 4 stars.

I just started reading the book, but I can say for sure that split personality is a real issue, and should be addressed as a sensitive topic.

I think this one is quite okay. Maybe my biggest problem just is the fact that I have read SO many books like this, so it does not engage me that well. It just does not have anything especially intriguing in it, even though it is a nicely written book. Maybe there are just too many good books in this genre so it is hard to get separated from the flock.

Lots of positive comments. Sounds enjoyable except that it sounds romantic than anything else.

I'm enjoying the book and reading through it pretty fast. I adore Carly but find Adam at this stage (halfway),to be tiresome.

I rated the book 3 out of 4 stars. It has a really slow beginning but once you get past it the book is amazing and you can't put it down. I loved seeing how Adam and Carly's relationship developed.

I read this book but I did not like it. the story was original though. It could be so much more than it is.

This is not the usual genre I would highly enjoy but I loved it. In my opinion, the beginning was rough due to Adam's attitude and I almost put it down but it got good as soon as the plot picked up. I rated it a 3 out of 4 stars. I see myself reading the sequel soon.

Halfway through the 2nd book to this and have found far more typos and grammar issues so far. I am hoping that their will be an opportunity for a review to be written for that book once I am finished reading but I am assuming that it has to be made available to you due to skills and am worried if I review else where that it will be considered backlash from this site. I want to ensure I follow the rules but I also don't want to read the book and be unable to review it along with the final book as well. Anyone know what's best to do? Maybe review it on personal pc and not share on any other forum and hope that its one day offered on here??

I enjoyed this book a lot, although I did feel sad about Carly's mom. The relationship portrayed moved me, and I can honestly say it had been a while since the last time I have read such lovely work.

Very interesting book that has a very unique story line. I would recommend it to others, however, I would give it a 3 out of 4 stars, because it exhibits unrealistic characteristics of teenagers and is a bit fast-paced.

Based on your post I may just have to read this one! Sounds interesting!

I haven’t read the book yet but it does seem like something that I would enjoy reading. I love the fantasy and romance genres. I also don’t mind reading young adult novels. The only thing I probably could complain about is that there have been reviews of characters deaths. I hate reading books with characters being killed off.

Kclarkin09 wrote: 09 Feb 2020, 09:28 This is my first book that I have read as a member of the review team. I am slightly confused as all I have seen online are glowing reviews. My initial impression of the book was that it seemed as though the author had used a thesaurus much too liberally. Coming fresh off of receiving my Master’s in English I just couldn’t look past the terrible writing style and syntax errors. I’m also not sure how all of the reviewers could look past the fact that Adam is attracted to his mother and has dark, serial killer type tendencies. I’m not sure this is what our young adult population needs to be reading. As a new reviewer, am I expected to write the ideal review for the author or will I be penalized for giving my honest opinion?
I’m new here too but the vibe I get is to write an honest opinion.

If it helps, I’m in your camp. I don’t get all the 4 out of 4s either. But then I suppose everyone takes away something different from a book.

I’m finding the writing particularly flat at times. There’s a lot of telling going on and it’s wearing me out a little bit.
